RAF Brize Norton Flights

AI Flights from RAF Brize Norton, UK. For use with TTools for FS2004 for Lee Swordy.

These flights represent all the scheduled RAF flights from Brize Norton along with local flyers
which perform touch and go's. As the RAF does not always fly scheduled routes there are also
several flights which represent places to which the RAF fly to from time to time generated as
weekly flights simply to add more activity to Brize Norton's AI operations.

Installation

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Airports.txt file in TTools

First thing to do is run CollectAirports if you havent already. this will enable all the airports
in FS to be recognised by the Compiler and will mean that you wont get any airport errors when
trying to compile the Flight Plans.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Aircraft.txt file in TTools

Insert these lines at the bottom of the list in the AIRCRAFT file.

You must replace each line, after the number AC#38 etc. with entries for the aircraft you want
to use. Open the aircraft's "aircraft.cfg" file, find the line "reference speeds" and the entry
"cruise speed" and put the first 3 numbers before the decimal point preceeded by a comma as
below:

[Reference Speeds]
flaps_up_stall_speed=150.000
full_flaps_stall_speed=115.000
cruise_speed=490.000
--- THIS BIT!!!!!

Becomes:

AC#38,490

Then go to the top line of the "aircraft.cfg" file find the repaint that you want if applicable
and copy the text after "Title=", paste this preceeded by a comma and surrounded by speech marks
after the cruise speed:

[fltsim.0]
title=Vickers VC-10 C Mk 1 XV107 10 Sqn RAF ------- THIS BIT!!!!!!!!
sim=VC101
panel=
model=
sound=
texture=xv107
checklists=etc........

Becomes

AC#38,490,"Vickers VC-10 C Mk 1 XV107 10 Sqn RAF" ------- remember the speech marks!!!!!!

et voila!!!!!!!

Do the same for the other aircraft. For this readme I have put the aircraft numbers only (as they
refer to the flight plans) and the aircraft type they should be. You will have to carry out the
above process to fill in the cruise speeds and titles of aircraft you have in your collection.

AC#179 = RAF VC-10 Cmk1
AC#180 = Boeing 757 Flyjet
AC#181 = RAF Tristar Cmk2
AC#182 = Antonov AN124 Volga Dnepr Heavy Lift
AC#183 = Boeing 757 Monarch
AC#184 = DC-10 DAS AIR CARGO"

Reccomended downloads for the above aircraft.

AC#179 = Dave Maltby's excellent VC-10. A pure genius model that resembles this stunning aircraft
perfectly. Unfortunately it isnt perfect because its far too reliable to be a real VC-10.

Also available is the VC10K4 another Dave Maltby piece of genius. A truly lifelike VC-10 Tanker.

AC#180 = Those of you who have FSTraffic 2002 by Justflight can find a B757 repaint in FlyJet colours by myself on www.fstraffic2002.com. Other 757s in Flyjet colours are available on www.SurClaro

AC#181 = The best RAF Tristar for FS on the planet and the best Tristar model out there. the
reflective textures alone make it brilliant. By Mike Stone.
available from: www.pmstone.com
textures available from: Garry's textures (through Mike Stones Website)
also some textures available on www.SurClaro

AC#182 = The original Antonov model by Thomas Ruth together with Volga Dnepr Textures created by
yours truly. A superb model with excellent animation combined with superb photoreal textures.
available from: www.SurClaro

AC#183 = Russell Trigg's B757 in Monarch colours.
available from: www.SurClaro

AC#184 = Many DC-10s are available online, the best being FFX's (now SGA) I will be releasing DAS Air Cargo textures for the FFX DC-10 soon, as well as textures for FSPainter's DC-10.
Look out for these on www.SurClaro

Flightplans.txt file in TTools

As said before these are not all accurate flights, they represent a cross section of most of the
places the RAF flies to at present. They are also designed to represent most of the various
aircraft types that fly into Brize Norton regularly.

Extra flights for the C-17 Globemaster will be released when someone releases a decent GMAX C-17
is released for FS2004.

Parking Codes

The last thing you need to do is to assign parking codes to the AI aircraft you are going to use.
You can either do this manually or with the help of AFCAD2 by Lee Swordy.

I have set up the AFCAD files in this pack to recognise the following four letter codes for
specific aircraft allowing them to park at correct gates. In my view this is a fantastic new
feature for FS2004. Probably the best new feature. Use these codes after the equals as above to
make sure your AI aircraft park at the right gates.

Tristar=TRIS
VC10=VC10
C-17=C-17
Volga Dnepr=VDA
Royal Air Force=RFR

To do it manually:

Go into the aircraft of your choice's aircraft.cfg file. You should be familiar with this after
the obove processes. At the bottom of each aircrafts information, thats this bit:

>
[fltsim.1]
title=VC10 C1K RAF 2003
sim=VC10C1K
panel=
model=C1K
sound=
texture=RAF 2003
kb_checklists=/Documentation/Checklist_Standard
kb_reference=/Documentation/Manual
description=VC10 C1K RAF 2003\nModel by David Maltby\nwww.Maltbyd.fsnet.co.uk
ui_manufacturer=Vickers
ui_type=VC10 C1K
ui_variation=RAF 2003
atc_heavy=1
atc_id=XV106
atc_airline=AIR FORCE
atc_flight_number=106
<

put an extra line right after the last line saying this.

atc_parking_codes=

then after the equals put one of the following four letter codes depending on which aircraft it
is:

Copy the Four letter code exactly as it is represented in the list above, in capitals and put it
after the equals as below:

atc_parking_codes=VC10

The whole thing should then look like this:

>
[fltsim.1]
title=VC10 C1K RAF 2003
sim=VC10C1K
panel=
model=C1K
sound=
texture=RAF 2003
kb_checklists=/Documentation/Checklist_Standard
kb_reference=/Documentation/Manual
description=VC10 C1K RAF 2003\nModel by David Maltby\nwww.Maltbyd.fsnet.co.uk
ui_manufacturer=Vickers
ui_type=VC10 C1K
ui_variation=RAF 2003
atc_heavy=1
atc_id=XV106
atc_airline=AIR FORCE
atc_flight_number=106
atc_parking_codes=VC10
<

And thats it the manual way.

Now using AFCAD2.
This is just as simple. Open AFCAD and select "Tools/Aircraft Editor" This will
bring up a window showing all your FS Aircraft. Find the one you want and then in the box marked
"Parking Code" put one of the above codes to match the Aircraft type. For this AI Package you do
not need to specify any other parameters. When you have done all your aircraft click OK. The
editor will have done what was described above for you. And thats it.
